Check Out Spring 2017s Share Your Shutters Winner

Matt Thelander

Spring is blowing by here in Salt Lake City, but don’t think we forgot about our regularly scheduled Share Your Shutters contest. This season’s winner is Tonya S., who shared a few photos of her home that truly capture what shutters can do for a space.

Tonya’s house features some beautiful new Polywood® plantation shutters in her dining room. Since her shutters are shut, you can really get a glimpse of how much control plantation shutters really give you over your lighting. Imagine that dining room with a slightly softer light; it would be a picture-perfect setting for a romantic candlelit dinner, right? With plantation shutters in your dining room like Tonya has, you can capture the mood you want regardless of what it’s like outside.

Also of note is how the white shutters complement the white trim near the floors and the white ceiling. Those neutral accents make the black wood furniture and the wood floor’s texture shine even more.

But that wasn’t her only photo submission. Below is another photo she submitted of her new sliding barn door shutter!

There are a few reasons we love this barn door shutter. The first reason is that it looks fantastic. The rustic aesthetic of the wood paneling with that smooth jet black frame above give an enduring yet relaxed look. What we love even more than the shutters’ looks is how practical it is. The barn door shutter sits off the window frame, so it can effectively block light while still allowing the window to easily open and shut.

Because the shutter sits on the front the frame, Tonya can still make use of that deep window jamb, too. For instance, if she wanted to set some flowers on the sill to get sunlight, she could even close the shutter so it can soak up some rays while still controlling the light in her home.

Tonya tells us that this is the third time she’s chosen window treatments from Sunburst Shutters, and we want to thank her for repeatedly choosing us for all her window design needs. For being picked as our Share Your Shutters winner this quarter, Tonya will get a $100 gift card to a local restaurant.

Think your shutters should be featured here? Show them off! Share a photo of your home featuring your shutters with the hashtag #ShareYourShutters, or submit a photo to our Facebook page. We’d love to feature some shutters from a Utahian next time!

Or if looking at Tonya’s home makes you think your space is missing something, we want to help. Call 801-515-3598 today to talk to one of Sunburst Shutters Salt Lake City’s window design experts to get started.
